What to Bring

Everybody has their own list of essentials for a stay at the Valley but in general members provide their own food, drink, condiments, bedding, toiletries, cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery and sporting equipment. Most members take advantage of storage sheds on the property and keep non-perishables at the Valley, substantially reducing the amount of packing and carting involved in a weekend stay!

Food

Except when attending a catered function you will need to provide all of your own food. There is no shop at Hidden Valley but Ourimbah has a small shopping centre with a pharmacy, green grocer, butcher, baker, fast food outlet, newsagent and general store. Ourimbah also has a local pub and there is a banquet restaurant in the local RSL/bowling club. To satisfy your more demanding gastronomic needs, nearby Lisarow shopping centre has Bi-Lo and Bakers Delight,  or the Westfield Mall at Tuggerah is 18 km away. Each cabin has its own bar fridge and there are some larger fridges for communal use so don't be afraid to bring a small quantity of perishable foods. There is some but not much provision for frozen foods.

Drink

For washing and general purpose (not drinking) use, water is drawn from Ourimbah Creek via settling tanks. This water is generally of quite good quality but is not recommended as suitable for drinking. A tank of rain water collected from the roof is available for drinking purposes. Don't forget to bring your own tea, coffee, milk, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

Bedding

The beds are equipped with mattresses and mattress covers only so you will need to bring your own sheets, pillows, pillow cases, blankets, doonas etc. Many of the regulars find that sleeping bags are most convenient.

Electrical Appliances

Electric power is available in each cabin so if you have any favourite electrical appliance (fry pan, toaster, radio etc.) you can use it. Communal cooking facilities include an urn, microwave ovens and gas barbecues (bring matches or a lighter) which most members find adequate without additional appliances. In summer bring a fan and in winter a heater if you'd like for your cabin.

Crockery and Cutlery

Bring plates, dishes, mugs, glasses, knives, forks, spoons, can opener, cork screw, pots, pans, washing up sponge and detergent.

Clothing

Hidden Valley enjoys a mild climate but it can be hot in Summer and chilly in Winter so it would be wise to be prepared. Except for the occasional fancy dress function or excursion to town, dress is decidedly casual and sometimes rustic. Boots are popular. During wet weather the wearing of a Drizabone is not a pose at Hidden Valley!

Sporting Equipment

Bring tennis racquets, tennis balls, golf clubs, golf balls, swim suit, trail bike, mountain bike, walking shoes/boots.
